Goatastic Acres
2008
Breeding Schedule
We will not be breeding kids
for 2008
You’ve found the most exciting page on our website! We’re
perfectionists and we’ve tossed, turned and lost sleep when
doing all the figuring out between the breeding pairs on this
page. Much thought and care is placed on pairs we choose for
sire and dam to maintain the breed as a true
miniature working
dairy goat. The guessing and second guessing never ends. Our
kids are dam raised because we strongly believe in the natural
way of raising goats. We have seen where dam raised kids are
healthier physically, mentally, and emotionally if they are
raised affectionately 24 hours a day by their true "mommies.”
Goat mothers are some of the most loving, caring and giving
mothers on the planet. We have a very small, selective herd and
spend a lot of time handling and socializing our kids (we love
them up big time) so that our buyers get the best of both
worlds. We also offer bottle baby options as outlined in our
terms of sale, listed below.
TERMS OF SALE:
We breed our does in the fall for spring kidding. Our goal is
to
have all does kid in early April. We dam raise our kids unless
otherwise requested with an additional $50 deposit for bottle
feeding. Bottle fed babies must be picked up within 7 days after
birth. Kids are available as early as April if they are bottle
babies or late May if they are dam raised. Our spare time is
spent handling all our kids. This produces a very friendly,
loving kid goat and our past buyers will gladly attest to. We
are a 4H friendly breeder and offer discounts to children that
are members of a 4H. We may also offer discount packages on
multi-goat purchases.
- A $50.00 deposit per goat will hold a goat until full payment is
received (a hold is placed on check orders until the check
clears) and the animal leaves our farm. We can help with
transportation to neighboring states on an as needed, individual
basis for an additional reasonable fee. We do not offer shipping
via airlines at this time.
- Our breeding schedule outlined below is subject to change. We
reserve the right to retain ANY kid born on our farm even if a
deposit has been placed on that kid. If this happens, your
deposit will be placed on your second kid of choice. Deposits
are non-refundable unless your second choice is not available.
In that event, we will refund your deposit or you may put it on
another kid for next kidding season.
- We accept deposits via Paypal, personal check (held until
clears), or money order. Final payment is expected at or right
before pick up. Sorry, no personal checks for final payment,
however, Paypal, money orders or cash are gladly accepted.
- Does that are highlighted in Red may be for sale after kidding.
**This is especially convenient for people looking for a goat
that can instantly provide milk for the table.
- Most bucks born on our farm will be wethered within 6 weeks of
age unless they and their dam meet our high standards. Many
bucks are really not suitable herd sire material; only the ones
whose dams have excellent udder placement and milk capacity will
be considered. The buckling himself must have great lines,
proportion, and an extra little spark to even be considered.
- If you would like to reserve a buck kid, please call me as soon
as possible. As of this writing, the doe I have with the best
udder qualities is Ruby Red. I did have a buckling purchased
from last year’s breeding between Stella and CandyMan. Every
year is different and we’ll see what this year brings!
Our desire is to provide quality goats that you will be pleased
with in purchasing. To that end we strive to breed livestock
that will meet your needs, whether it's for show, breed
characteristics needed in your breeding program, milk for your
table, or for that all important pet that will be a part of your
lives for a long time. If at any time you feel your purchase is
not to the standards we have set for our buyers, contact us and
we will work out an amiable solution. Thank you for your on-line
visit today!
Applause goes out to Aletha Moody of HappyTailz Farm in
Mayville, MI whom I fondly refer to as “my partner in goat
crimes!” My life of crime began when I started breeding my herd
without my husband’s knowledge. Aletha and I would sneak bucks
and does in and out of my farm always keeping a cautious eye on
hubby and keeping up with his work schedule. When John finally
figured out what I was up to, it was spring and four kids had
already hit the ground --Goatastic Acres was born! He was first
in line to hug and hold them. Aletha and I have planned many fun
and crazy escapades again this past year and it has been a real
blast.
